TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Talladega police last week arrested a convicted sex offender for violating Alabama’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, starting a wave of SORNA Violation arrests across the county.

61-year-old Leander “Andy” Calhoun of Alpine was arrested by Talladega police, who charged that Calhoun had been working in Talladega for some time, but he had failed to register his employment with the police as required by SORNA. Also, his place of employment is too close to the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind campuses for Calhoun to be allowed to work there. Calhoun pleaded guilty to attempted rape in the first degree in 1998.

Next was 28-year-old Tyler Lamar Reaves, charged by the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office with two SORNA Violations, as well as two Probation Violations. The Sheriff’s Department also arrested 62-year-old Keith Owen McDonald, who had a Motion to Revoke his Bond on a SORNA Violation.

This week, 46-year-old Marquette Ladante Felder faced two SORNA Violations in Childersburg and a Mandatory Release Violation in Talladega County by the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles. 61-year-old David Tyrome Thomas was arrested on three SORNA Violations by the Sheriff’s Department.

It wasn’t a SORNA Violation, but 26-year-old Francisco Ixotoyac, if convicted on a charge of Sex Offense 2nd Degree in Lincoln, will be added to the Sex Offender Registry.
