SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The B.B. Comer Memorial Library will host storyteller Dolores Hydock on Wednesday, Oct. 21, for the next installment of the First Bank of Alabama Adult Lecture Series, “History Comes Alive.”

Hydock’s presentation, “Every Picture Tells a Story: The Storytelling of Norman Rockwell,” will explore how the American artist transformed paintings into narratives. The program will feature stories from Rockwell’s life and career, along with a behind-the-scenes look at how he developed his one-image stories.

Using slides of Rockwell’s sketches, models, paintings in progress, and finished work, Hydock will trace the artist’s creative process and show how he became known as “America’s painter” and a storyteller on canvas.

Doors open at 11:00 a.m., and attendees are encouraged to bring lunch. The library will provide bottled water, while Hickory Street Café will supply a prepackaged dessert.

The presentation begins at 12:00 p.m. in the Harry I. Brown Auditorium.

Sponsored by First Bank of Alabama, the lecture series offers the community an opportunity to explore history through engaging presentations for local audiences. Attendees can bring a friend and enjoy an afternoon focused on art, biography, and storytelling.
