ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College recognized employee service milestones during its Fall Professional Development event on Friday, Sept. 25, celebrating more than 800 combined years of service among its 140-plus employees.
Service milestones were calculated as of Tuesday, Sept. 1. Central Alabama Community College President Jeff Lynn thanked employees for their dedication to the college and its students.
Cindy Entrekin, the college’s longest-tenured employee, reached 33 years of service in January. Entrekin began her association with Central Alabama Community College as a student and has served in numerous roles throughout her career.
Other milestones included Steve Lewis, 25 years; D.J. James, 20 years; Kevin Heath, Leslie Mitchell and Melody Borden, 15 years each; Ben Bailey and Larry Thomas, 10 years each; and Kendal Entrekin, Beasley Martin, Annette Hatch and Michael Barnette, five years each.
Central Alabama Community College noted that long-term employee tenure is increasingly uncommon nationwide, with fewer than five percent of employees remaining with the same employer for at least 25 years. The average tenure across industries is 4.1 years.
The college also welcomed 23 new full-time employees over the past year, representing 16 percent of its overall workforce. Central Alabama Community College said the combination of experienced employees and new colleagues reflects its commitment to a strong workplace focused on students and the community.
