SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A portion of Lake Howard Rd., also known as Boat Dock Ln., will close beginning Monday, Aug. 24, for up to ten days as crews complete road and drainage improvements.
The temporary closure will allow workers to install a new road surface and improve drainage infrastructure along the roadway. Officials said the project is part of ongoing efforts to prepare the Lake Howard area for the upcoming fall season.
City leaders asked residents and visitors for patience during the construction period and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
The work is connected to improvements in an area that serves as a gateway to the Sylaward Trail, a popular recreational destination in Sylacauga.
The Sylaward Trail is a cooperative project involving the City of Sylacauga, the U.S. Forest Service, and Cyclists of Greater Sylacauga. The trail attracts residents and visitors from across the region who use it for exercise, recreation, and outdoor enjoyment.
Stretching approximately 14.5 miles, the trail winds through the forests surrounding Lake Howard, offering users access to scenic natural landscapes and opportunities to experience the area’s wildlife and outdoor environment.
