SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Residents and visitors are welcomed to gather at Central Park on Friday, June 26, for Star Spangled Sylacauga, a community celebration marking America’s 250th birthday.
Presented by Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union, the free event will run from 5:00 p.m. until fireworks begin at sundown. Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and family members for an evening filled with food, entertainment, and patriotic festivities.
A variety of food vendors will be on site throughout the evening, including Frost Bite Snacks, Ernie’s Hot Dogs, Kettle Corn & Cotton Candy, Pelican’s SnoBalls, Big Boy Wings, Nawlins Style Po Boys, Simone’s Kitchen ATL, On the Cob, Luvin’ Lemonade, Bulldog BBQ, and Dog Nation.
Activities for children will include an inflatable slide, mega sprinkler, Foam Frenzy, balloon art, sidewalk chalk, and giveaways at the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce’s tent. Families are encouraged to bring swimsuits, towels, and a change of clothes for children participating in the water and foam activities.
One of the event’s returning attractions is the Pelican’s SnoBalls Sylacauga Brain Freeze Challenge, which drew participants of all ages during last year’s celebration. Announcements for the contest will be made from the sound stage throughout the evening.
Organizers are encouraging guests to wear patriotic attire, especially light-up accessories, as the community celebrates the nation’s semiquincentennial.
Alcohol, personal fireworks, and sparklers are prohibited in the park. Dogs are permitted but must remain leashed and well-behaved.
Star Spangled Sylacauga is free and open to the public thanks to the support of local sponsors and community partners.
