SYLACAUGA, Ala. – American Legion Post 45 will host its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, June 14, in observance of Flag Day, offering residents an opportunity to respectfully retire worn and damaged American flags.
The ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the post’s armory on Fort Williams St. Community members are encouraged to drop off unserviceable flags in advance at American Legion Post 45, or at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, for inclusion in the retirement ceremony.
The event follows the American Legion Post 45 Annual Car Show, scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the post’s Hammett Ave. location. Admission is free for the public, and exhibitors may begin setting up at 7:00 a.m.
The car show will feature a 50/50 split-the-pot drawing, door prizes, and a flea market. Organizers describe the event as a celebration of classic car culture while supporting community traditions.
There is no entry fee for participants in the car show. Both events are open to the public.
