CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Members of the Talladega County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority appeared at the May 5th Childersburg City Council meeting to raise support of their missions in local communities.
Delta Sigma Theta is a nonprofit public service organization whose primary purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world, via their core values of scholarship, sisterhood, service and social action.
Chartered in May of 1977, the Talladega County Chapter serves the Childersburg, Sylacauga, Talladega, Lincoln, Munford and Winterboro communities. They have a long history of numerous voter registration drives, Fun Day activities in their communities. They have partnered with communities to assist families in during the holidays, as well as the organization of mentoring programs for community youths.
One of their proudest traditions is supporting young people in Talladega County with scholarships. Over the past five years, Talladega County Alumnae has awarded over $8,000 in scholarships to students at Childersburg High School. and over $50,667county-wide.
