Sylacauga City Council approves IT contract, insurance agreement during March 18 meeting

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council convened Wednesday, March 18, following a work session that began at 5:00 p.m., to address a range of municipal business items, including contracts, financial approvals, and administrative actions.

City Council President Tiffany Nix called the meeting to order after the work session concluded. Following a brief report from Mayor Matt Hubbard, the council entered into an executive session at the recommendation of City Attorney Win Livingston Jr. The closed-door session lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Upon returning to open session, the council adopted an amended meeting agenda before moving into Old Business.

Council members approved a managed services contract for information technology services with Btech Inc., as well as an agreement with Revize for website development and management.

The council also granted a 60-day extension tied to an agreement originally approved at its March 3 meeting concerning nuisance abatement remediation for Deason properties located on 8th St. The extension sets a new expiration date of May 2.

In New Business, the council approved the annual Business License Tax Report for fiscal year 2025 and entered into a three-year agreement with Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation, or AMIC, to provide municipal liability insurance coverage.

Additionally, the council approved a four-week extension for temporary workers at the Sylacauga Animal Shelter.

Council members also voted to rescind a previous action taken during the Nov. 18, 2025, meeting that had authorized an agreement with Forerunner Technologies for telephone services.

The council approved accounts payable invoices totaling $142.01 for fiscal year 2025 and $2,210,792.44 for fiscal year 2026. February payrolls were also approved in the amount of $539,060.76.
