Coroner identifies Talladega man found dead near Hwy 34 bridge in St. Clair County

PELL CITY, Ala. – St. Clair County Coroner Jeff Parrish has identified a man who died Thursday morning, Feb. 5 near the Alabama Hwy 34 bridge between St. Clair and Talladega counties.

The body of 61-year-old Robbie Z. Bedford was quickly recovered from the waterway by members of the Pell City Fire and Rescue dive team, using a boat to reach the victim after a apparent fall from the bridge.

A passerby reported seeing a man in the bridge area as they drove over the bridge, and called 911 to report their concern.

Bedford was pronounced deceased at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Thursday.
