SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Frigid weather and the possibility of dangerous travel conditions due to patches of black ice, school is CANCELLED on Monday, January 26th for both the Sylacauga City Schools and Talladega County School System. Both school systems use their one weather day in lieu of E-Learning.

Sylacauga school officials said they will continue monitoring weather and road conditions for Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Knollwood Christian School in Sylacauga will be closed Monday.

City and county government offices are also adjusting schedules. All Sylacauga city offices will delay opening until 11:00 a.m. Monday. Talladega County Buildings will also open at 11:00 a.m. due to inclement weather.

Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will open at 10:30 a.m. out of an abundance of caution for road conditions. The chair Zumba class at the J. Craig Smith Community Center is canceled.

Officials urge residents to remain vigilant while traveling and stay weather-aware as temperatures continue to drop in the coming hours and remain unseasonably cold through at least Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
