SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A portion of Broadway Ave. will be closed mid-February to allow for scheduled railroad repairs.
The Sylacauga Police Department announced that the closure will take place at the railroad tracks on Broadway Ave., just north of 4th St. and between 5th St.
The affected section of roadway will be closed from Feb. 18 through Feb. 25.
Officials said detour signs will be posted on Broadway Ave. and Norton Ave. to guide drivers along alternate routes during the repair period. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling near the construction zone.
The police department said the repairs are necessary to maintain safe rail and roadway conditions and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, follow posted signage, and avoid the area if possible until the work is completed.
