Sylacauga City Council to consider FY2026 budget and contracts as well as police pay raises at Jan. 22 meeting

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet Thursday, Jan. 22 to consider adoption of the city’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget, contract approvals tied to the budget, police officer pay increases, and routine financial reports.

A work session is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. with the regular council meeting to follow immediately afterward.

Among the key agenda items, council members will vote on a resolution to adopt the city’s FY2026 annual budget. The council will also consider resolutions approving contracts identified as related to the FY2026 budget as well as a resolution adopting the Local Motor Fuel Excise Tax report.

Two personnel actions are on the agenda, with proposed pay increases for police officers Jonathan Ledbetter and Latonio Meadows, both effective Jan. 10, 2026.

Financial matters before the council include approval of FY2025 Accounts Payable invoices totaling $384.41 and FY2026 Accounts Payable invoices totaling $1,669,934.65.

The meeting will be held at Sylacauga City Hall in the Faye Hosey Chambers and is open to the public.
