BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – There was a time not too long ago when it was easy to spot Jayla Duncan, a Childersburg High grad more than just involved in high school and Childersburg community activities. Up front has been the scholarship pageant circuit to help her finance college career. She’s the reigning Miss Samford University, as well as Miss East Alabama 2026. And her pageant platform has “sparked” a whole new level of “busy” for the co-ed.
Duncan has turned her “Be the Spark” pageant platform passion as an anti-bullying advocate and turned it into something that takes her community involvement to a whole new level. Besides a schedule of college courses and extracurricular activities like being a Bulldog Cheerleader, she’s now a published author of her own children’s book, “A Bully for Bella,” complete with her own speaking tour.
Jayla will appear at Alabaster’s Albert L. Scott Library, chatting with children and read her book to them. That will be at 6:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, January 20th. She’ll share news of her anti-bullying nonprofit, “Jayla’s Justice: Be the Spark!” to help kids deal with bullying, offering an inspiring message about kindness, resilience, and creating safer communities for all.
