OAK GROVE, Ala. – Members of the Spring Creek Homeowners Association came before the Oak Grove Town Council with a request for the town to take over Hannah Ln. as a final step in the association legally dissolving.

Association President Jerry Scher presented the idea and received a counter request from Council President Pro Tempore David Harris. “For us to consider this, we’ll need the legal description from a survey,” said Harris.

Scher noted that they have those and other necessary documents, which he will turn over, along with related information, to the Town Clerk in time for the matter to be considered at the February regular meeting.

The Council approved the application of Jacob Baird as a returning member of the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department. In another matter for the VFD, the Council approved $4,163 for a 4L Truck and Trailer to replace the turbo system for the department’s 2005 Ford F-550.

The Council discussed, without action, an estimate and design options for a mural for the west wall of Town Hall from Sean Day for approximately $2,000. Day will be asked to update the selected sample and provide a size estimate for the mural in time for the February regular meeting.

Approval was given for a pay increase for the Transportation Coordinator position from $14.19 per hour to $15 per hour.

Resolution 646 was approved, ratifying the Authorized Signatories for the existing Nutrition Program Checking account.

The Council reappointed four members of the Board of Zoning and Adjustments to staggered three-year terms as follows: Charles Merkel (Jan. 2027), Glenda Niewiadomski (Jan. 2028), Ginger White (Jan. 2029), and Rick Morgan (Jan. 2030), leaving one term vacant until a suitable candidate is found.

After learning that a state funding cutback will eliminate three meals from the roster of those being fed through the Senior Nutrition program, the Council voted to cover the approximate $240 cost of providing the meals to keep the roster as it exists.
