OAK GROVE, Ala. – The Oak Grove Town Council approved five separate resolutions on a variety of subjects during their Tuesday, Dec. 9 meeting. The first, Resolution #634, came under Old Business after several months of work.

That resolution will create a five member Park Advisory Task Force, whose aim will be to help develop plans for more events and induce more community use of the park’s facilities. Once the pool of applicants is compiled, the Council will select five members, serving staggered terms, to develop and recommend ideas for Council approval.

Resolution #641 adopts a new set of Standard Operating Procedures for the Volunteer Fire Department.

The Council approved Resolution #642, which authorized Mayor Tony White under Alabama Code Section 10-40-22 to give out a pair of awards to municipal employees for exemplary performance. Street Department Manager Josh Mizzell and Town Hall Receptionist Josephine Silla were named and awarded $400 and $200, respectively.

Resolutions #643 and #644 concerned town employee pay. The first awarded a four percent pay raise to all town employees, effective with the first pay period of the new year. The second authorized a one-time lump sum payment of $100 for full-time employees and $50 to part-time employees.

Resolution #645 authorized the disposal of unrepairable or unused surplus items, mostly office electronics.

In other New Business, the Council approved a pair of expenses for the Volunteer Fire Department. One was in the amount of $5,790 for equipment and tools from the North America Fire Equipment Company, Inc., or NAFECO. The other approved apparel for department personnel in the amount of $1,854.92 from Custom Ink.

Approval was granted for the 2026 Holiday Schedule, which basically matches the 2025 schedule.

In an item added to the agenda by amendment, the Council approved up to $2,500 for repairs to the park’s Merry-Go-Round. Josh Mizzell added that he found a machinist who can create eight replacement panels at a cost of only $2,000, with $500 to cover any miscellaneous costs incurred during the repair process.
