SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Voters will have a chance to hear directly from candidates in Sylacauga’s upcoming municipal election during a public forum set for Thursday, Aug. 14, at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
Hosted by Jimmy Dale Abrams and Bruce Carr, the event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the rec center’s gymnasium. Admission is free. The forum will feature mayoral and city council hopefuls ahead of the Aug. 26 election.
Mayoral candidates include incumbent James “Jim” Heigl, Bryan Taunton, Matt Hubbard and Jada Thomas-Combs.
City Council candidates are:
District 1 — Greer Wright Bisignani, Colton Craft, Michael Landers, Sherrell Mickey and Tina Sanders
District 2 — Christopher Kirkland, Tiffany Nix and Antonio “A.J.” Stamps
District 3 — Timothy “Nate” Brewer and Zach Mayo
District 4 — Cedric DeBardelabon, Frank Lee Perryman, Diana Thornton and Tim Vincent
District 5 — Laura Barlow Heath and John Wesson.
Mayoral candidates will have five minutes to speak, while city council candidates will have three minutes. A question and answer session will follow, with audience members able to submit written questions upon arrival.
The forum will also be livestreamed on the SylacaugaNews.com Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
