SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met on Thursday evening, May 22, at 6:00 p.m. following a work session which began at 5:00 p.m.
At the meeting, the city council authorized Mayor Jim Heigl to enter into an agreement with Biometrica Systems, LLC to share mugshots, warrants, and sex offender data to enhance chances of catching criminal suspects.
The council approved a budget amendment from Other Professional Fees (GL 010-511-41580-000) to Legal Fees Expense (GL 010-511-41540-000) in the amount of $1,537 to cover invoice from Spain and Gillion.
An additional contracted position at the Animal Shelter through Tempforce was approved at an hourly rate of $14.69. Funding will come from the FY25 Police Department Unused Salaries.
The city council rescinded two pay increases to City workers that were not approved and enforced repayment of said funds.
A forensic audit of all city finances done by City Attorney Win Livingston was ordered by the council.
The council approved May 2025 Accounts Payable invoices, totaling $688,561.64.
The next Sylacauga City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3 at 6:00 p.m.
