CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – When Resolution 2024-12 was approved on Aug. 20, 2024, Hurst Construction of Munford was selected as the contractor for renovating the former Childersburg Medical-Surgical Center into a new Police/Judicial Complex for the City of Childersburg.
The interior was gutted, followed by new electrical and fiber optic wiring for communication, as well as new plumbing. Since then, all of the new interior walls have been installed. This past week, work was completed for interior and exterior concrete work.

“City officials and police department personnel have raved over the interior work completed,” said Hurst Project Manager Scott Arrington, “but what’s expected over the next couple of weeks will help it really come together with a lot of the finishing work.”
On any given day, there were between a dozen and three dozen workers on site.
“Everything has gone extremely smooth since day one,” Arrington said. “Our ‘punch date’ is in mid-April, but we’re looking to have things completed by the end of this month.”
After pouring a roof section, the concrete crew was busy with the sidewalk adjacent to the building on Thursday and Friday this past week.
“Painting and trim work will make things come together quite well,” explained Arrington as he invited us to come back each of the next few Fridays for updates. “I think you’ll be amazed at the difference.”
