ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College (CACC) recently received a $1 million donation from automotive parts manufacturer SL Alabama to go towards workforce development projects.

SL Alabama, which began its Alexander City operations in 2005, produces headlights, taillights, and mirrors for Hyundai and Kia.

Kyungsoo Koo, the new president of SL Alabama, believes it is imperative to support the local community, and Koo plans to do just that.

“For years, we’ve given to charitable organizations like United Way, the Sun Festival, Wildcat football, and many others,” said Koo, “but as we emerge from the pandemic, we believe now is a good time to make an even greater investment in the Alexander City community.”

CACC continues to grow and expand technical programs on the Alexander City campus. This donation will help ensure that the college has the resources to educate and train an ever-changing workforce.

“I am so appreciative of the generous donation from President Koo and SL Alabama,” Jeff Lynn, president of CACC, said. “With this donation of needed funds for our Alexander City campus, we will be able to accelerate our Advanced Manufacturing education and training goals for our great manufacturing companies in our region. SL Alabama understands how important a trained workforce is to their company, and we are excited to build on our strong partnership with them.”

SL Alabama currently employs almost 700 at their Alexander City location.
