SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Effective immediately, the Sylacauga City School (SCS) system has announced new guidelines to follow for all upcoming athletic events.
SCS athletic director Chad Wilkinson has unveiled the following guidelines:
- Spectators at all campuses should not stand along the fence or in front of the bleachers, and should remain in the bleachers unless going to or from the concession stand or restrooms.
- Do not enter the field of play for any sporting event. This includes pregame, during game, and/or post game without the consent of an authorized administrator. Violators will be asked to leave the premises immediately with no refund.
- All attendees are expected to follow all rules of the facilities where the athletic event is being held. Those who fail to follow the rules of the facility may be escorted off the premises.
- Spectators are asked to remain seated in the stands during the game. Loitering or gathering in the aisles, concourses, ramps, in front of concessions, lobbies, hallways, and entrances or exits is strictly prohibited.
- Failure to comply with policies and guidelines will result in immediate dismissal.
- Law enforcement will be present at athletic events and will act at their discretion if they observe any misconduct during the events.
“These guidelines are intended to provide a safe and friendly environment for all fans and guests,” Wilkinson said. “Regardless if it is an indoor or outdoor sport, we want them to enjoy the event and support their team. Sports have a way of bonding people together with school pride. We ask for everyone’s cooperation in following these guidelines to make sure fans have a great and safe experience.”
The next home sporting event for Sylacauga is Tuesday, Nov. 29. The 9th grade, junior varsity, girls, and boys basketball teams are set to host Briarwood with the first game (9th) scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
