[WATCH] Sylacauga City Council meeting – April 19, 2022

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council met Tuesday night, April 19, at 6:00 p.m. with a work session prior at 5:00 p.m.

The council authorized an amendment to the Waste Hauling Services Contract with Peoples Services, Inc. effective April 12, 2022. The amendment authorizes a seven percent fee increase based on the consumer price index (CPI).

The city council approved a resolution to allocate funding for repairs to the Lake Howard bridge.

They also authorized a refund of $7.92 to Daniel Signs, Inc. for overpayment of a building permit.

The council approved travel and training expenses for Firefighter Isaac Holmes and Fire Lt. Kyle Moseley to attend the Alabama Fire College Fire Officer I course at the Lafayette Fire Department, May 23-27, 2022. There is no registration fee and expenses for meals and use of a city-provided vehicle will be incurred. The total estimated expenses for Holmes and Moseley are $75 each.

Also, the city council amended the minutes of the Feb. 15, 2022 meeting by adding a second location for the AFC Rescue Technician: Rope 1 course attended on Feb. 28 – March 4, 2022 as the courses were taught in both Alexander City and Opelika.

The council approved the invoice received in the amount of $500 and the balance of accounts payable for the month of March in the amount of $545,537.53.

They also accepted March’s payroll in the amount of $429,728.46.

After the public meeting, the council went into a private, executive meeting that was closed to the public and the press.

The next scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, May 3, at 6:00 p.m.
