March’s First Responder of the Month is Ben Layton of the Sylacauga Police Department.
Layton works as an investigator with the Police Department. He began with Sylacauga Police in August of 2012 and has worked both day and night-shift patrols and also as a nuisance and abatement officer.
Layton grew up in Sylacauga and graduated from Sylacauga High School, so it means a lot for him to serve his community.
In his free time, Layton enjoys to wood work, hunt, fish, and spend time with his wife and kids.
“When I was a kid I respected police officers and the work that they do,” said Layton. “I guess it was always an interest to me and I fell into it.”
Thank you Ben Layton for your service!
The First Responder of the Month is presented by Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Each First Responder of the Month receives a $50 VISA gift card from First Bank of Alabama.
