SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Twelve students in Talladega County have been awarded the Masie Knight Memorial Scholarship.
This year’s scholarship recipients are students from B.B. Comer, Childersburg, Fayetteville and Sylacauga. Each student received $1,000 paid to the college of their choice.
“My mom passed away in 2005 after a battle with breast cancer,” said CJ Knight. “She was a very influential person in the community and my uncle started the Masie Knight Scholarship in her memory.”
The scholarship fund has grown tremendously over the last few years thanks to the generosity of sponsors and those in the community.
“We just want to help students in our community,” said Knight.
