SYLACAUGA, Ala. – This Sunday, Nov. 3, several businesses in the Sylacauga area will be opening their doors for Christmas Open House sponsored by the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laura Strickland described the event as “an opportunity for our downtown merchants to start sharing Christmas shopping ideas all with the intent of encouraging our consumers to shop at home.”
Some of the businesses participating in the event are as follows: McClendon Bridals, Buttons & Bows, Magnolias, Cuppa Grace Cafe, Trailwares, LaCosta, Peddler Paula’s Boutique, Yoder Family Traditions Gift and Craft Shoppe and The Lily.
Stores will be offering specials and discounts during the day. For example, Magnolias is offering is 10% off $100, 20% off $200 and a free Christmas tote bag when you spend $75 or more. They are also giving out door prizes and free samples of foods like they’ve done in years past. Buttons & Bows is offering 20% off of purchases store-wide.
Think of it as Black Friday without the issues that come with Black Friday such as camping in freezing weather.
“I always like to think that there is a gift for everyone on your shopping list at one of our merchants downtown,” said Strickland. “There’s no reason to drive anywhere else to do your Christmas shopping.”
Christmas Open House, which has been taking place annually for 30-plus years, is always hosted on the first weekend of November. According to sylacaugachamber.com, Christmas Open House will start at 1:00 p.m. and go until 5:00.
Strickland emphasized that the specials will only be available on Sunday.
“It’s really just a great afternoon for the community to come out and visit and get some shopping ideas,” said Strickland.
A full list of the specials can be found on the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
