SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A front-end loader operator backed off a 40-foot cliff at Imerys, according to Sylacauga Fire Chief Adam Gardner.

The operator was in the cab of the loader when he backed the machinery off the cliff. The loader’s bucket was full of dirt and rocks that spilt onto the cab when it fell from the embankment.

The operator, a male, was trapped inside the vehicle. The Sylacauga Fire Department responded to the incident and dug him out of the dirt and rocks.

When he was pulled from the cab, he was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. Gardner said the operator had lacerations to the face and legs.

The name and age of the driver has not been released.
