SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 370 acres today, eight miles south of Talladega in the Sherman Hunter Camp area.
Forest Service Roads 615 and Co. Rd. 234 will form portions of the burn boundary and should be traveled with caution. During today’s burn, the public will notice Forest Service fire crews and equipment. Smoke will also be visible from Hwy. 21.
The wind is expected to be out of the southwest and carry the smoke to the northeast towards the Porters Gap area. As the temperatures cool later today, the smoke may begin to settle down Emauhee Creek towards Co. Rd. 149. Some settling may also occur around the general area of the burn on the forest. Signs will be posted if needed. If encountering smoke on roadways, please slow down, turn on your low-beam headlights and use caution.
