SYLACAUGA, Ala. – According to an announcement by Care House Director Earl Lewis, the Sylacauga Care House will re-open on a limited, part-time schedule. The non-profit organization has been shut down recently as have many other organizations and businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Care House will be open on the following schedule and with the following policies and procedures for the foreseeable future (with all schedules, policies, and procedures subject to change as needed).
- Beginning Tuesday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 13, the Care House will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and on every following Tuesday and Wednesday, with that same time schedule, until further notice. The Care House will not be open on any days other than Tuesday and Wednesday for the foreseeable future.
- The primary purpose for this re-opening is to serve regular Care House clients. However, new clients may be served when possible.
- The only documentation required during this start up period will be a valid identification – preferably a photo ID.
- Please do not visit the Care House if you or any resident of your household is sick.
- Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be courteous and respectful to other clients. Everyone will get food as long as supplies last. Everyone should not rush in at opening time or at the last minute. There is a two-hour window each day in which to be served.
- Only one member from each family will be allowed in the service line.
- SOCIAL DISTANCING of 6 feet or more must be observed by all clients.
- All clients are urged to wear face masks for their visit to the Care House.
- No clients will be allowed inside the building. Waiting lines and serving of food bags will all take place outside.
- No clothing will be distributed or received until further notice.
- Clients will be able to return every three weeks if supplies are available.
