School superintendents meeting today to discuss back to school plans

SYLACAUGA Ala. – With the COVID-19 pandemic still on the rise, plans for the upcoming school year are still uncertain.

Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jon Segars told superintendents from across the state are meeting today to discuss potential plans for the 2020-2021 school year. Those plans will be announced on Friday.

There will be alternatives to in class learning inside the Sylacauga City Schools system. Those alternatives will be based on the needs and capabilities of families.

Teachers will return in early August to train for all contingencies and students will return on August 20, pending board approval.
