SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga native, longtime musician, friend to many and all around great guy, Dewey Knox, is in need of a helping hand.
A few months ago, Dewey was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. He has been receiving treatments for the disease, but has no medical insurance. The medical bills are piling up and are astounding.
Dewey’s longtime friend, Cabot Barden, along with a group of other friends and musicians have organized a Halloween Benefit Dance to assist with Dewey’s medical expenses and other expenses he has incurred directly related to his illness.
The date for the benefit dance is Friday, October 26 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Kymulga Grist Mill Park – 7346 Grist Road in Childersburg. The event is family friendly and no alcohol will be allowed or served, so feel free to bring the kids, also those have a desire, dress up in your favorite costume.
Admission is free, all donations, in any amount, will be greatly appreciated. A raffle for a new electric guitar will be held, with tickets only $2 each, buy one or buy a bunch. All donations and proceeds will go to Dewey Knox toward his medical expenses.
Tom Roberts will be the M.C. for the event and entertainment will be provided by two local awesome bands, The Renegade Band with guests Roy Strickland and Butch Turner and members of Dodson Parkway.
If you do not dance, come on out and enjoy the music in the Pavilion or under the stars on the Grist Mill’s new spacious deck. Some seating is available, but is limited, so if possible, please bring some lawn chairs.
It’s going to be a fun and enjoyable evening for a good cause, hope to see you there.
For those who cannot attend, but would still like to help, a “Go Fund Me” account has been set up, the account is entitled “Dewey Knox – Medical Fund” or checks and money orders can be mailed directly to Dewey at 599 Ponderosa Circle, Sylacauga, AL 35151.
The organizers of the event would like to thank you in advance for your generosity.
