SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Governor Kay Ivey on Friday issued an amended Safer at Home Order to be applied Statewide. The order which includes an expanded list of items to reopen will be effective Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and will expire on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
In this new amended order much has changed. Here is a list of some of the key changes:
- 10-person limit removed, but 6-feet apart rule still applies
- Restaurants, Bars and breweries may open with limited table seating and social distancing
- athletic facilities re-open with social distanicing
- close-contact service providers open with social distancing
- beaches open with no 10-person limit, but with social distancing
In this new amended version people are still being encouraged to stay at home when possible, and to also continue good sanitation practices.
One of the biggest points of this amendment is that larger employers can now re-open with sanitation and social distancing guidelines. Schools will remain closed to in-person instruction for the time being.
