SYLACAUGA Ala. – After being on hold for two months due to COVID-19, youth sports are returning to Sylacauga.

Gov. Kay Ivey’s latest revision of the Safer at Home order allows youth sports to begin practicing on May 22 at 5 p.m.

Sylacauga Parks and Rec. plans to begin competition for both baseball and soccer on June 15, adhering to the social distancing guidelines put in place by Gov, Ivey. Athletes who wish to forego this season may receive a full refund. The refund deadline is May 29 at 5 p.m.

“After we give out the refunds, then we are going to reevaluate how many kids we have and probably have to re-draft some teams, order uniforms and start games on June 15th,” said Parks and Rec athletics director Steve Masters.

For more information or to request a refund, contact the Parks and Rec Center at 256-249-8561.
