Childersburg City Council meeting – Aug. 18, 2020

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. –  The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. for their regular meeting with the following agenda of items for action:

The Council approved Resolution 2020-25 Awarded the bid to build the bike trails at Kymulga Grist Mill Park to Flowmotion Trail Builders, LLC in the amount of $178,031.36. The resolution also authorized Mayor Ken Wesson to execute all necessary documents for the project. It is funded by a grant from ADECA.

Approval was given to a proposed City Holiday Schedule through the end of the calendar year, as follows – Thanksgiving: Nov. 25-27th; Christmas: Dec. 24-25th; and New Years: Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st.

The Council approved repair and replacement installation for gutters at the Rainwater Library. The contract was awarded to Norred Seamless Gutters, LLC, in the amount of $2,172 from Fund 14.

Approval was given for Parks & Recreation Director Anthony Murphy to attend the Fall Workshop Session in Orange Beach on Sept. 29-30th, including the cost of Registration at $125, plus a two-night stay and per diem.

The Council approved a pair of items for the Childersburg Police Department. The Council approved Fraternal Order of Police dues for the department in the amount of$540. The also approved a pay rate adjustment for a pair of pre-academy cadets to $14 and hour. Their academy session has been rescheduled to begin in November.

Approval was given to the Street & Sanitation Department to hire two part-time maintenance laborers at a probationary rate of $8.00 per hour, to rise to $9.00 per hour upon successful completion of their probationary period.

The Council approved payment of  invoices in the amount of $290,876.25.

The next regular meeting will be held on Sept. 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a public hearing at 5:00 p.m. that same date at City Hall concerning a proposed zoning change for Grove Park from R-2 to R-1.
