SYLACAUGA, Ala. - The Sylacauga Board of Education held a called meeting this morning to narrow the field of candidates for the next superintendent. Five candidates were interviewed earlier in the month, with a sixth candidate withdrawing before the interview.

SYLACAUGA, Ala. - Sylacauga City Schools superintendent Dr. Jon Segars released a statement Sunday afternoon regarding continued learning while school is still closed.The complete press release is below:While the Alabama State Department of Education weighs options for continuing academics this year, Sylacauga City Schools builds contingency plans for all possibilities.Superintendent Jon Segars stated, “Our teachers continue to make contact with students through multiple means to offer learning opportunities throughout the break. Online activities are always available to our families, and principals are busy providing virtual and printed materials to those who need them. Furthermore, teachers and administrators are ready to help families learn how to use our many resources."Students are scheduled to return to class on Monday, April 6, and we expect academic guidance from the State Department of Education by the end of March. Until plans are released, we encourage students and families to maintain contact with teachers, principals, and our central office staff for detailed information on how to access resources.Please continue to refer to our website for information. There you can submit questions using this form and answers to submitted questions will be posted on a newly created Q&A webpage.
