SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Yea!106.5 and WYEA!1290 have announced this year’s scholarship program to help area high school seniors with upcoming college expenses. Cash scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each are being funded for students at Sylacauga High School, B.B. Comer Memorial High School, Childersburg High School, and Fayetteville High School.
Although the intent is to recognize academic achievement, a broader purpose is to reward integrity, leadership, initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, communication skills, and community involvement. A qualifying applicant must be a resident of Talladega County and a graduating senior with a current-year grade point average equivalent to 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and accepted for enrollment in a two- or four-year college, university, or trade school.
Since its inception and through this year, the program will have made over $13,000 available to more than 20 graduates.
Completed applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21. Details are available from principals or guidance counselors at each school.
