SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Arc of South Talladega County will host its first-ever “BBQ Bailout” on Friday, Aug. 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Corner Spot in downtown Sylacauga.
The two-part fundraiser features $12 pulled pork plate sales and a tongue-in-cheek “bailout” challenge starring several local candidates for Sylacauga Mayor and City Council positions.
Candidates will be “locked up” and must raise donations – or bail – to be released. A playful twist allows attendees to donate again to put them back behind bars.
Plates include pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and a cookie. Preorders are open now through July 25 at www.yourarc.org, with on-site pickup available the day of the event.
All proceeds benefit The Arc of South Talladega County, which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Local candidates interested in participating are encouraged to contact Leah Allen at The Arc.
The organization emphasizes the event is not a political forum and does not endorse any candidate. Participation is voluntary and all in good fun.
