Sylacauga man killed after two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 280

WESTOVER, Ala. – A Sylacauga man was killed on Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 280 in Westover.

The confirmed victim is 41-year-old Robert Rumsey IV.

Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel told SylacaugaNews.com the crash occurred on the major highway near Co. Rd. 55. Daniel explained the crash took place between 6-6:15 a.m. Rumsey was driving a normal passenger-vehicle when he collided with a commercial vehicle, possibly an 18-wheeler.

Daniel said Rumsey’s next-of-kin has been notified.

Funeral arrangements have not been made, but will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

No more information is available from Alabama State Troopers as the crash is still under investigation.
