Sylacauga City Council proposed agenda – March 19, 2019

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacuga City Council will meet Tuesday night at Sylacauga City Hall.

The meeting begins at 6:00 with a preceding work session beginning at 5:00.

The following items are on the proposed agenda:

  • Historical Commission to present three new historical markers.
  • Resolution 11-2019 accepting contribution of $10,000 from the Utilities Board and authorizing expenditure to the Sylacauga Arts Council, Marble Festival Fund, to be used for the 11th annual Marble Festival to be held in April 2-13, 2019.
  • Resolution 12-2019 authorizing purchase of 18x31x10 foot metal storage building for Fire Station #2 from Cabaniss Feed and Farm Supply in the amount of $2,570.  Included in FY19 budget request to be paid from Capital Improvement Reserve Fund.
  • Resolution 13-2019 authorizing purchase of 54” Hustler Mower to be used on City properties from Griffins Outdoor Supply in the amount of $5,118.  ($5,000 included in FY19 budget request to be paid from Capital Improvement Reserve Fund.)
  • Resolution 14-2019 authorizing the publication of public hearing relating to the zoning and annexation of properties located at 310 Arco Dairy Road, Lot 10 Indian Valley Estates, 202 Pine Street (Walco), 57 Sparrow Lane, 106 Autumn Hills Lane, and 95 Autumn Acres Lane.  First available date for public hearing is May 7, 2019.
  • Ordinance 2209-19 amending Ordinances 2167-15, 2176-16, 2193-17, 2184-17, 2189-17, and 2207-18 by adding additional language regarding extension of the related police jurisdiction.
  • Recommendation from Fire Chief Adam Gardner to move Lt. Nate Osgood from Grade 3, Step 1 ($15.39/hr) to Grade 3, Step 2 ($15.93) for taking on additional duties of Fire Inspection (non-budgeted position).
  • Application for ABC Special Events Retail License from Jays Sports Grill, LLC for Spring Fling Concert to be held on April 13, 2019 from 5-11 P.M. in the parking lot at 704 West Ft Williams Street.
  • Approve travel/expenses for HR Specialist Jayne McGee to attend the ACCMA Certification Program course Public Budgeting and Financial Management to be held in Prattville April 4-5, 2019.  Registration fee is $195.  Additional fees for mileage and meals will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for McGee are $351.22.
  • Approve travel/expenses for HR Specialist Jayne McGee to attend the 2019 Birmingham SHRM Legal Update on April 10, 2019.  Registration fee is $100.  Additional expenses for mileage will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for McGee are $141.86.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Police Chief Kelley Johnson to attend the AACOP CLEEP training ‘Dealing Effectively with the External Environment’ on April 11, 2019 and ‘Human Relations: Coaching/Performance & Discipline’ on April 12, 2019 in Jacksonville, Alabama.  No registration fee.  Johnson and Muse will carpool in a city vehicle.  There are no estimated expenses for Johnson.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Police Captain Rondell Muse to attend the AACOP CLEEP training ‘Dealing Effectively with the External Environment’ on April 11, 2019 and ‘Human Relations: Coaching/Performance & Discipline’ on April 12, 2019 in Jacksonville, Alabama.  Registration fee of $99 per class.  Muse will carpool with Johnson in a city vehicle.  Total estimated expenses for Muse are $198.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Code Enforcement Admin Secretary Shannon Plexico to attend the ACCMA Certification Program course Public Budgeting and Financial Management to be held in Prattville April 4-5, 2019.  Registration fee is $195. Additional fees for a meal will be incurred.  Plexico will be carpooling with McGee.  Total estimated expenses for Plexico are $220.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Animal Shelter Technician Connie Willette to attend the Animal Care Expo 2019 to be held in New Orleans, LA April 15-18, 2018.  Registration fee is $275.  Additional expenses for lodging and mileage will be split with another attendee from the area. Total estimated expenses for Willette are $807.96.
  • Approve expenses for Fire Recruit Harmony Delaine Kelley to attend Firefighter I and Firefighter II Recruit School at the Alexander City Fire-RTC March 20 – May 17, 2019.  Registration fee is $375.00.  Additional expenses for meals will be incurred.  Kelley and Tubbs will carpool in a city vehicle.  Total estimated expenses for Kelley are $1,050.
  • Approve expenses for Fire Recruit Andrew John Tubbs to attend Firefighter I and Firefighter II Recruit School at the Alexander City Fire-RTC March 20 – May 17, 2019.  Registration fee is $375.  Additional expenses for meals will be incurred.  Tubbs and Kelley will carpool in a city vehicle. Total estimated expenses for Tubbs are $1,050.
  • Approve expenses for Court Clerk Amber Johns to attend the Pryor Learning Solutions Leadership and Management Skills for Women course in Oxford April 24, 2019.  Registration fee is $249. Additional expenses for meals and mileage will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for Johns are $319.
  • Balance of Accounts Payable invoices for February in the amount of $402,568.99.
  • February payroll in the amount of $407,868.42.
