Sylacauga City Council proposed agenda – Jan. 3, 2019

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet for the first time in 2019 on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 6:00.

The following items are on the agenda ;

  • Resolution 01-2019 awarding bid for upgrades and corrections to backflow prevention devices at various city properties to Giddens, Inc. in the amount of $77,650 based on bids opened Dec. 17, 2018.
  • Appointment to Tree Commission – term of Kevin Cooper expired June, 2018.  Eddie Bentley was the only applicant.
  • Approve expenses for PD Sgt. Tim Collier to attend the Leadership for LE Supervisors: Take the Lead course in Jacksonville, Alabama, March 11-13, 2019.  There is no registration fee.  Expenses for lunch each day will be incurred.  Collier, Kircus and Bland will be carpooling in a city vehicle.  Estimated total expenses for Collier are $45.
  • Approve expenses for PD Sgt. Charlton Kircus to attend the Leadership for LE Supervisors: Take the Lead course in Jacksonville, Alabama, March 11-13, 2019.  There is no registration fee.  Expenses for lunch each day will be incurred.  Estimated total expenses for Kircus are $45.
  • Approve expenses for PD Sgt. Shane Bland to attend the Leadership for LE Supervisors: Take the Lead course in Jacksonville, Alabama, March 11-13, 2019.  There is no registration fee.  Expenses for lunch each day will be incurred.  Estimated total expenses for Bland are $45.
  • Approve expenses for Police Chief Kelley Johnson to attend the AACOP Training (CLEEP Certification) courses How To Create a Life-Work Balance in Law Enforcement on Jan. 17, 2019, and De-Escalation Techniques in Law Enforcement on Jan. 18, 2019 in Dothan, Alabama.  No registration fee.  Additional expenses for lodging, meals, and fuel for a city vehicle will be incurred.  Total estimated expenses for Johnson are $362.44
  • Approve expenses for Police Captain Rondell Muse to attend the AACOP Training (CLEEP Certification) courses How To Create a Life-Work Balance in Law Enforcement on Jan. 17, 2019, and De-Escalation Techniques in Law Enforcement on Jan. 18, 2019 in Dothan, Alabama.  The registration fee is $99 per course.  Additional expenses for lodging and meals will be incurred.  Muse will be carpooling with Johnson.  Total estimated expenses for Muse are $510.44.
  • Approve expenses for new PD recruit Roman Gerrod Hubbard to attend the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy Jan. 7 – April 4, 2019.  Tuition fee of $250, food and lodging fee of $1,800.00, and $233.00 ammunition fee.  Upon graduation, APOSTC will reimburse up to $1,800.  Hubbard will drive a city vehicle to the academy.  Total estimated expenses for Hubbard are $2,283.
  • Accounts Payable invoices received to date for December in the amount of $184,011.15.

Commercial Development Authority and Zoning Board of Adjustment & Appeal interviews will begin at 4:00 on Thursday, Jan. 3, followed by the council work session.
