SouthFirst Bank Adult Lecture Series: “Lost and Found”

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Wednesday, Nov. 7, the much-loved storyteller, Dolores Hydock, will present the last SouthFirst Bank Adult Lecture Series at the B.B. Comer Memorial Library.

Using two very different stories, Hydock will remind us that often when we start out looking for one thing, we often end up finding something that we didn’t even know that we had lost.

One pre-World War I story will feature two talented people who were silent film stars and ballroom dancers for whom the “found” was a lesson about falling in love. You may recognize this glamorous couple whose influence on films, fashion and dance has lasted down to today.

The audience will love the second set of “hairy” stories which will relate an unexpected and “hairy” new source of wisdom, but not a surprising one for animal lovers.

Dolores Hydock is an actress and story performer whose work has been featured at concerts, festivals and special events throughout the United States.

She is a touring artist for the Alabama State Council on the Arts, a speaker with the Alabama Humanities Foundation, and a member of the Southern Order of Storytellers. For many, she is simply one of the nation’s best story tellers.

Hydock is from Reading, Pennsylvania, but she has lived in Birmingham, Alabama for a number of years. In addition to staying busy telling her stories, she teaches Cajun and Zydeco dancing.

“You Must Remember This, the fall Adult Brown Bag Lecture Series, is sponsored by SouthFirst Bank. The Hickory Street Café helps provide refreshments which begin at 11:00 a.m., and the program following at noon in the Harry I. Brown Auditorium.
