MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sen. Jerry Fielding, a Coosa Valley Medical Center board member, has been honored by the Alabama Hospital Association as its 2017 Trustee of the Year. The award is given annually to one individual who has provided outstanding leadership for his or her local hospital.

“Sen. Fielding clearly deserves the distinction of being named Trustee of the Year,” said association president Donald E. Williamson M.D. “He has been a faithful member of his local hospital board for some time and has also been a terrific leader in our statewide professional organization for hospital trustees. He is truly committed to ensuring his local community and all Alabamians receive the best health care possible and has volunteered countless hours of his time in support of this goal.”

A member of the Alabama Council of Hospital Trustees (ACHT), the Alabama Hospital Association’s affiliate organization for health care trustees, since its inception, and a former board chairman, Fielding has also served as chairman of Sylacauga’s hospital board, he had a successful career as an attorney, served in the Alabama senate, and served as a Talladega County circuit judge and as the city attorney for two municipalities, and currently chairs of the Alabama Ethics Commission. He has served on a number of other boards including Easter Seals, the Department of Human Resources, Sylacauga’s school board and has chaired the administrative board at his church and represented the church as chair of the southeastern district board.

“On behalf of the entire team at Coosa Valley Medical Center, we celebrate Senator Fielding’s selection as Trustee of the Year,” said Glenn C. Sisk, CVMC’s CEO. “He has capably served on our Board for many years including several terms as chairman. His tireless commitment to the improvement of healthcare in our region is obvious to those who have the privilege of working with and for him and we are indebted for his service.”

The Montgomery-based Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization representing more than 100 hospitals and other health care providers with membership services designed to enhance the provision of health care in Alabama.
