SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Resources for Women will be presenting its annual fundraising event, which will be held in October.
This event, named “Life is Precious” will feature Rick Burgess from “Rick & Bubba” as the guest speaker. Burgess has co-authored several New York Times Bestselling Books covering topics such as politics, marriage, business, comedy, and what it looks like to be a follower of Christ in a secular entertainment environment. He has spoken at youth events, men’s events, and marriage conferences across the country. Burgess’ wife, Sheri, has authored a book about what they learned about God through the death of their youngest son. Burgess’ eulogy for his son became the most viewed video in the world on YouTube the week of the service.
This event is taking place of what is normally a banquet. “We wanted more people to be able to enjoy Rick Burgess because he has a heart for the unborn, and knows how precious life is,” said Melodie Miller, the Director for Coosa Valley Resources for Women.
Resources for Women is a Pregnancy Care Center that has been in Sylacauga for 16 years. It provides free services for families experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Free pregnancy testing, pregnancy education, limited ultrasound, pre-natal and parenting classes through Earn While You Learn, abstinence education, small group Bible study, post miscarriage and infant loss support, post abortion support, adoption referrals, and continual spiritual and emotional support and encouragement for the entire family or the single parent are some of the services provided. All provided services are donated by local donors or churches and are free to clients.
This event will be held at B.B. Comer Memorial High School in the auditorium on Oct. 25, 2018. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m., with the program starting at 7:00 p.m. You can purchase advanced tickets for $25 per person, or purchase tickets at the door for $35.
