Rep. Rogers releases statement on Manhattan terror attack

NEW YORK CITY, NY. – On Tuesday, eight people were killed as a truck plowed into pedestrians in downtown New York City.

Reports say a terrorist driving a rental truck drove nearly a mile down a bike-only path before killing the eight pedestrians.

According to reports, police say the motorist, Sayfullo Saipov, 29, was shouting “Allahu Akbar”  during the attack. Saipov fled from the scene of the crime once his vehicle stopped. He eventually would be shot in the abdomen by police.

Congressman Mike Rogers released the following statement on the terrorist attack. “No amount of political correctness from Democrats and the liberal media elite will stop violent Islamic terrorists from trying to kill us.The attack in New York City yesterday is evidence that everything President Trump is advocating for is exactly right and needed. We must have extreme vetting. We must reform our broken immigration system especially by getting rid of the visa lottery program and chain immigration. And we must secure our borders and that starts with building the wall. Words and feelings won’t keep us safe.  Actions will.”
