SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 200 acres today, 10 miles east of Sylacauga.
Forest service roads 689 and 689A form a portion of this burn boundary and should be traveled with caution. During today’s burn, the public will notice Forest Service crews and equipment. Smoke may also be visible on Co. Rd. 4 and 7 and Hwy. 21 and 148.
The wind is expected to be out of the northeast and carry smoke to the southwest toward the Parkdale area. As temperatures cool later today, the smoke may settle down Little Hatchet Creek and Co. Rd. 4. Some settling may also occur around the general area of the burn. Signs will be posted if needed. If encountering smoke on roadways, please slow down, turn on your low-beam headlights and use caution when encountering prescribed burning operations and smoke.
