SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Patient Care Academy had a grand opening ribbon cutting Wednesday.

Patient Care Academy is a private training program for nursing assistants to become certified nursing assistants. This is a ten day program, where students go through classes and clinical days. Patient Care Academy has partnered with Coosa Valley Nursing Home, and students will be able to do clinicals there. This hands-on training program prepares students to take their state tests to be registered through the state of Alabama.

The co-owners of Patient Care Academy are Lytonya Conley and Conswalia Phillips. Conley is a registered nurse and the coordinator of the program, and Phillips will be the primary instructor.

“You can never have enough CNAs because there is such a high demand for them,” said Phillips. “We want them to have a heart and a passion to help others, and be good at what they do.”

The first day of classes started today. Their goal is to have evening classes in the future.

“It’s exciting to see new business owners begin in Sylacauga,” said Laura Strickland, Executive Director for the Chamber of Commerce. “To think about the business and employment opportunities Patient Care Academy is going to bring to our community and region is exciting in itself, but to know that Sylacauga is the heart of their business says a lot for our community.”

If you are interested in classes at Patient Care Academy, call (256) 369-2498, email them at [email protected], or visit their Facebook page.
