CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Chris Anthony Bryant, a 31-year-old Sylacauga resident was arrested by a Childersburg police officer on Hwy. 280.

In an interview, Lt. Kevin Koss with CPD said an officer stopped Bryant at 9 a.m. for having an expired tag; when the officer pulled his information, he saw there was a warrant for his arrest in Talladega County. The officer went back to the vehicle to take Bryant into custody, but Bryant started the car. The officer reached for the keys when his arm was pinned to the steering wheel. Bryant drug the officer across the lot onto Hwy. 280 until he broke free. There was then a vehicle pursuit until Bryant wrecked his car and fled on foot.

Bryant was located at 4:30 p.m. when he attempted to resist arrest again.

“The Talladega County Sherrif’s Office helped us locate and apprehend him, and we are grateful for their help,” Koss explained.

Bryant is also being charged with possession of meth, drug paraphernalia, and a concealed firearm without a permit found when officers were doing inventory of the car.

The officer that pulled over Bryant was slightly injured, and was taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center for treatment. He has since been released.
