SYLACAUGA, Ala.- The First Annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ Food and Toy Drive presented by SylacaugaNews.com and Yea!106.5 benefiting Alabama Childhood Food Solutions (ACFS) and the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE) was considered a huge success by all parties involved.
Preparations for the second annual event are already underway, and it has been kicked off by a large monetary and toy donation by one of Sylacauga’s largest retail stores.
Walmart recently donated over $2,500 to ACFS and added 48 brand new bicycles that will be part of the ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign coming later this year.”ACFS does a lot for this community, and it is my pleasure to be able to assist in providing for the community,” said Walmart Manager Aaron Fenton.
This is not the local Walmart’s first time giving back to the community. The retailer is a repeat offender when it comes to donating to the children in the community. “For the second time in a few years Walmart has made a very generous donation to ACFS,” said ACFS Director Jim Jones. “There will be toys for so many kids because of their donation as we end the year trying to care for those in our community.”
“We try to do as many donations as we can, especially with ACFS.” said Fenton. “They have a great relationship with this store and the entire community, so we try to help them out in any way we can.”
Jones is very proud to see members and business in the community be proactive when it comes to helping the youth in the community. “I am excited to see Walmart and Marble City Media and all of its radio stations making a difference in this community,” he stated. “We can’t wait for others to do this work.”
The 2017 ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign will begin in November and last until the middle of December.
