Greyhound Lines, Inc. celebrated bus stop grand opening

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Greyhound Lines, Inc. had a ribbon cutting Wednesday for its new bus stop at Allen’s Food Mart on Hwy 280.

“Greyhound believes bus transportation is a vital resource for rural communities,” said Crystal Booker, Communications Specialist for Greyhound Lines, Inc. “We are thankful to the Sylacauga community for allowing us to be of service as we provide connections to surrounding locations. We are looking forward to operating with our partners at the Allen Oil Company Food Mart.”

A representative from Greyhound Lines, Inc. said in the “old days” passengers would go to the bus stop, purchase the tickets, and when the bus arrived, there might be standing room only, or they may not be able to board the bus at all. Now, the ticket process is very similar to airlines, where passengers can purchase the tickets online, and once the bus is full, there are no more tickets available to purchase.

“We are very excited to have Greyhound as a Chamber partner,” said Laura Strickland, Executive Director for the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce. “It brings light to our community and gives travelers an opportunity to stop in Sylacauga. Hopefully, they’ll find an opportunity to return on business or pleasure. Through Allen’s Food Mart and their partnership with Greyhound, it continues to complete our community and what we have to offer our citizens, as well as those traveling through.”

Tickets for the buses can be purchased online or by calling (800) 231-2222.
