SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Sunday, First Baptist Church in Sylacauga broke ground on its new expansion plans set to upwards of $2 million.

In what will be the church’s most significant building project in 30 years, it plans on creating a new main entrance for its congregation leading into a new North Lobby.

There will also be a new Children’s Lobby with a view of a new playground courtyard, a new central lobby, a renovated library, and three new Sunday school classrooms.

The project will also include the replacement of the sanctuary’s air conditioning system, installation of new drainage infrastructure and regrading of the north parking lot.

The project is expected to be completed in less than a year.
