[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Congressman Mike Rogers reacts to State of the Union speech, talks potential government shutdown, recent abortion bills and more

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A lot is happening right now in Washington that has the potential to affect your daily life, possibly another government shutdown.

Congressman Mike Rogers says he is hopeful, but not convinced, republicans and democrats can come to an agreement to avoid the second shutdown in 2019 after the longest shutdown in US history ended two weeks ago for a proposed three weeks of negotiations.

“The President opened up the government for three weeks after democrats said they would not negotiate unless the government was opened. To show in good faith he was trying, he agreed to reopen the government without any additional barrier funding,” the congressman explained. “We are less than 10 days away from that three week period being exhausted, and they are nowhere close to a deal.”

“I don’t think the democrats have ever had an intention in cooperating and negotiating in good faith,” Rogers said. “I hope I am wrong, but we will see next Friday.”

Rogers also discussed the State of the Union Address, abortion and the proposed southern border wall. Listen to the video below:
