TALLADEGA, Ala. – Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative, which serves more than 17,000 consumers in Talladega, St. Clair, Shelby, Clay, Etowah, and Calhoun counties, is monitoring the risk of possible severe weather from 11:00 p.m. tonight through 4:00 a.m. on Thursday.

A late evening advisory from the company noted that crews were preparing and cited “potential flooding, damaging winds up to 60 mph, and possible tornadic activity” with the most likely threat from wind gusts and downed trees due to soil saturation.

Some of the overnight storms could be severe, according to CVEC, with heavy rainfall, damaging winds, brief tornado activity, and large hail. The cooperative urges to remain weather aware and report any downed power lines or other hazardous conditions to 9-1-1.
